Blepharoplasty (BLEF-uh-ro-plas-te) is a surgical or laser procedure used to repair droopy eyelids by removing excess skin and muscle or to shrink excess fat.
Due to your heredity skin type or as you age naturally, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging brows, drooping upper lids and bags under your eyes. Besides making you look older than you need to, severely sagging skin around your eyes can actually impair one's vision.
Blepharoplasty can reduce the appearance of age and/or eliminate impaired vision caused by droopy eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is usually done on an outpatient basis.
