Cynthia D. Gray, MD
Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Whether you're considering cosmetic or reconstructive plastic surgery, you'll want the skill and expertise of a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a minimum of 10 years of surgical training and experience, specifically in plastic surgery.

Dr. Cynthia Gray has been a leading board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon since 1997, she is also a member of the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has been serving both Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon since 1991.  Her extensive training, experience and exceptional reputation makes her uniquely qualified to perform your next cosmetic or reconstructive procedure.
"There is no substitute for experience."

Making the decision to have a cosmetic or a plastic and reconstructive surgerical procedure to improve your appearance usually does not occur without first experiencing some apprehension.  It's a serious consideration.  And as if not to make matters more complex, many health care providers are now performing medical cosmetic procedures and plastic and reconstructive surgery.  Unfortunately that does not mean they are all qualified.

So just how do you begin to sort through the maze of  marketing and "media hype" to select a plastic surgeon with the qualifications and experience to perform your plastic and/or reconstructive procedure?

A great place to begin is by seeking-out board certified plastic surgeons with exceptional reputations, interviewing them, reviewing his/her "Before and After" photos of the procedure you are considering and establishing a patient-physician relationship with a surgeon member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons who best meets all your criteria.

Surgeon members are trained in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of all types.  Members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify physicians in plastic
surgery of the face and all areas of the body.  Having this added certification goes above and beyond industry standard, to ensure you are truly working with a surgeon who has surpassed stringent qualifications.

Whether you are considering a medical cosmetic procedure, plastic and/or  reconstructive surgery, you will want the skill, expertise and reassurance of a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.

Dr. Cynthia Gray has been a leading Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon since 1997.  Cynthia's also
a local visionary who very early on saw the need and the benefits for her patients, when combining her Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practice with state-of-the-art Medi /Age Rejuvenation Spa services.  And Cynthia has been proud to serve patients in both Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon since 1991.

Questions to ask every medical practitioner you meet with to discuss cosmetic and /or reconstructive surgery:

  • Are you certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?
  • Are you a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons?
  • Were you specifically trained in the field of plastic surgery?
  • How many years of plastic surgery training have you had?
  • How many years outside of training have you actually been in a independent plastic and reconstructive surgery practice of your own?
  • How many surgical procedures of the type I am considering, have you actually performed on your own?
  • Do you have hospital privileges to perform this procedure?
    • If so, at which hospitals?
  • Is the office-based surgical facility accredited by a nationally- or state-recognized accrediting agency, and/or is it state-licensed or Medicare-certified?
  • Am I a good candidate for this procedure?
  • What are the realistic outcomes I can expect from the procedure?
  • What will be expected of me to get the best results?
  • Where and how will you perform my procedure?
  • What surgical technique is recommended for me?
  • Are all of your surgical procedures from start to finish, performed by you, yourself, or in order to maximize your income do you hand-off a portion of the responsibility, including suturing to someone other than yourself, whom your patients have not had the opportunity to interview?
  • How long of a recovery period can I expect, and what kind of help will I need during my recovery?
  • What are the risks and complications associated with my procedure?
  • How are complications handled?
  • What are my options if I am dissatisfied in anyway with the cosmetic outcome of my procedure?
  • Do you have actual "Pre and Post" surgical photos for a number of patients who had the procedure you are consulting with me regarding, that you, yourself performed?
  • Can I review "Before and After" photos of this particular procedure you, yourself, have successfully performed on your patients?
Cynthia D. Gray, MD
Board Certified
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
BACKGROUND

Cynthia was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and relocated with her parents to the Pacific Northwest where her father chose to establish a family medical practice.  She was raised along with seven siblings in the Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon area, and has remained here ever since.

Cynthia's father went on to become a leading family practitioner in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon, and a role model for Cynthia and other local physicians and surgeons like her, who share the philosophy of effective patient-centered results.  A quiet culture of physicians and surgeons solely focused, from start-to-finish, on exceeding expectations and achieving the best possible results for each individual patient.  Physicians and surgeons not out to be "the biggest" but rather, those who strive on a daily basis and with every patient relationship, to be considered among "the best" in their fields.

Reconstructive surgery sometimes associated with radical efforts to stop the spread of cancer eventually became a passion of Cynthia's and an area of her expertise and as such, she's become a driving force behind bringing some of the latest reconstruction advancements to breast cancer patients in the Vancouver and Portland area.  In 1998 Cynthia's mother Janet succumbed to cancer, and her father followed shortly after in 2001, also from cancer.

Dr. Gray's commitment to supporting and making a positive difference in the lives of as many cancer treatment patients as she can, provides Cynthia with a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction.

The entire team making their annual run for Race For The Cure!
Dr. Gray and the team of professionals she surrounds herself with view each and every patient as "walking billboards" and as such, they take great care when formulating customized medical enhancement and /or surgical strategies, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcome for each of the practice's patients.

Each of our team members is focused on the quality of results they can achieve with each patient, instead of the quantity of procedures they can do in a day.

Cynthia believes that the best results in plastic and reconstructive surgery come when a surgeon listens to each patient's objectives, when she/he communicates frankly about the realistic results of a proposed procedure and when a surgeon takes her/his time in order to produce the best possible medical cosmetic enhancement and/or surgical result.

By investing in; extensive education in plastic and reconstructive surgery, state-of-the-art surgical and laser technology to ensure exceptional results for her patients, continuous investigation of the latest plastic & reconstructive surgery and age rejuvenation advancements the industry has to offer, participating in on-going cutting-edge continuing education targeted at keeping her plastic and reconstructive surgery practice in-step with the latest effective medical cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery advancements, and seeking to work hands-on and/or observe some of the industry's most renowned plastic and reconstructive specialists in their fields, Dr. Gray has demonstrated to hundreds, if not thousands of patients, that practice does make perfect.

These are just a few of the many philosophies that differentiate Cynthia and her team of professionals, in a extremely competitive field.
